Global Day of Action on Military Spending: GDAMS
On April 15, 2013, people around the world will come together again in the Third Meeting Against Military Spending. We invite you to join us.
The current economic crisis has put pressure on governments worldwide to reduce spending on basic needs, to confront climate change, to fight against deadly diseases and to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
Except some exceptions, national governments continue wasting huge resources in defense spending.
The annual report figures of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) from 2011, show that global governments are spending more than ever on defense: 1.738 million dollars a year $ 1,738,000,000,000). If used differently, this money could solve real and imminent problems that our planet has to face.
