Pacem in Terris

During the 2nd ,3rd  and 4th of October, organised by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Pacem in Terris encyclical of the beatified John XII. We were invited to this commemoration and we were happy to be welcomed by Pope Francis and to listen with excitement to the words about the tragedy in Lampedusa “It is a shame”, which have become history already.

The celebration consisted of an actual vision in the light of this encyclical. Specialists from all around the world dealt with subjects such as the universal organisation and the universal common good; the United Nations’ reform; the global challenges of today’s world; the interreligious dialogue: the international cooperation regarding human rights; the building of peace through education, science and culture or the work referring to social and economic global policies.

As usual, in the events organised by this Congregation, we had the opportunity to listen to testimonies of the local Asian, Latin American and African churches. A living and energetic testimony which enables us to get involved in the social reality of they way they do.
